Sarala Birla wins RR Das Inter-School Debate

Guwahati, Oct 17: Sarala Birla School lifted the 4th RR Das Memorial Inter-School Debate Competition, organized by NPS Intertiol School, here on Friday. Arshia Amijn Choudhury of Sarala Birla and Puja Kumari Sharma of SFS rengi were also selected as Best Speaker For the Motion and Best Speaker Against the Motion respectively.

Altogether 15 teams from various leading schools of the State, including Sainik School, Goalpara and DPS, Digboi, took part in the competition on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s Vision of Developed India in 2020 a Distant Dream. NPS Intertiol School, Guwahati was selected as the second best team of the competition this year. The other winners in different categories are : 2nd Best Speakers For the Motion: Hitoishi Sarkar (Army Public School rengi), 2nd Best Speakers against the Motion: Shubham Krish Bora (Sarla Birla School); Promising Speakers: Shouk Bhattacharjee (South Point School), Nivam Bagchi (Maharishi Vidya Mandir), Jeebani Devi (NPS Intertiol School) and Arpit Chakravorty (Srimanta Shankar Academy).

Attending the programme as chief guest, Prof Dilip Kumar Baruah spoke on various nitty-gritty’s of debating. Senior jourlists va Thakuria and Raman Bora also attended the programe as judges.

RR Das Memorial Inter-School Debate Competition was instituted by the founder director of NPS Intertiol School, JN Das, in fond memory of his father RR Das.
