Sarma new IMF zol chief

GUWAHATI, Dec 11: Satyen Sarma, the president of the Assam Mountaineering Association, became the Chairman (North East Zone) of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF). Sarma, a keen lover of adventurous sports, is very much instrumental in developing mountaineering in Assam and its adjoining states.The former mountaineer, who earlier completed basic and advance mountaineering courses from WHMI, Mali, participated four major Himalayan peak climbing expeditions, including Mount Choukhamba (7138m), Gangotri I (6672m) and Bhagirathi Mulkilla-1, besides many other trekking. Sarma took the charge of president of Assam Mountaineering Association in 2013, and during his tenure the association organized many major ventures, including an expedition to Mt Everest.
