Sati Sadhani Divas observed at Charing

GAURISAGAR, APRIL 24: Along with the rest of the State, Sati Sadhani Divas was observed at Charing -pam Khanikar village on the outskirts of Gaurisagar under the aegis of Sivasagar Zila Chutia Jati Sanmilani. The two-day programme beginning April 20 was marked by plantation of saplings, drawing and  spot essay competitions. In the evening, a speech competition on the topic ‘The role of  Sati Sadhani in awakening tiol consciousness’ was held among the school student of the locality.

The competition was iugurated by Tuwaram Khanikar, retired professor of SMD college, Charing. Dr. Giyasuddin Ahmed, former principal of Amguri College conducted the programme. In the evening, a cultural function was held. On the concluding day, an open session was held under the chairmanship of Mohesh Khanikar, president of the reception committee. The meeting was iugurated by Pabitra Borah, assistant professor, Swahid Piolee Phukan College, mti while Luhit Saikia, former principal of Hem Chandra Dev College, Netaipukhuri, graced the meeting as an appointed speaker. A book titled ‘Chutia Jatir Aadi Katha’ authored by Dipak Chandra Borah, associate professor, SMD college, Charing was released by Tuwaram Khanikar.
