Sati Sadhani Divas observed

GOLAGHAT, April 22: The All Golaghat Chutia Jati observed the Sati Sadhani Divas at Sadhani Kalakhetra Auditorium hall on Saturday. On this occasion, the flag hosting programme was done by social worker Tanka Bora followed by smriti tarpan by retired teacher Prem Boruah. In this regard, a meeting was held under the president ship of Nagen Bora, president of Merapani Journalist Association, and former PWD minister and 95 Golaghat LAC MLA Ajanta Neog inaugurated the meeting. Neog spoke about the importance of preservation of historical monuments of the Chutias in a museum. Neog also said that a life-size statue of Sati Sadhani would be erected next year at the cost of Rs. 25 lakh.

 Attending as a special speaker of the programme, noted writer Monuj Saikia said that proper analysis had not been done on the Chutia community. The Principal of Doyang College,  Bidur Kumar Baruah took part as special guest of the programme.

JOYSAGAR:  The Sivasagar District Chutia Chatra Sanstha formally observed Xati Sadhani Divas on Saturday with a day-long programme in Sivasagar Yubadol auditorium. Assam Police (FRRO) SP Debashish Sarma formally inaugurated the function where Shanti Khanikar, president of Chutia Mahila Sanmilan, presided over  the meeting. Prof. Ranjit Tamuli, Dr. Sabyasashi Mahanta, Dr. Saumarjyoti Mahanta and many other dignitaries spoke about the bravery and sacrifice of Chutia Queen Xati Sadhani.

Besides, in Charing Baruwati, Xati Sadhani Divas were also observed with a day-long colorful programme in Charing Sadhani Memorial Park near NH-37 on Saturday. Educationist and social worker Tuwaram Khanikar presided over the function where Chutia Jati Sanmilani District president Haren Saikia took part as the chief guest.
