SBI celebrates Bank Day in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, July 2: State Bank of India, North Eastern circle, celebrated its foundation day known as “Bank Day” on Friday by organising blood dotion camp, art competition for children, tree plantation, felicitation of eminent persolities, entrepreneurs, SHGs, dotions to 5 NGOs and concluded with a fasciting cultural night in presence of State Fince & Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The programme was attended by PVSLN Murty, Chief General Mager, Pan Lal Das, Gautam Bhattacharya, General Magers, SBI North Eastern Circle along with other senior officials, employees with their families besides customers.

SBI initiated the celebration with a blood dotion camp in association with GMCH blood bank on July 29 where employees doted blood, followed by an art competition amongst the wards of the employees.

On Friday celebration began with tree plantation, an awareness session on organ dotion, and other in house activities.

Later in the evening, a function was organised where bank felicitated four eminent persolities, Lalrintluangi (mountaineer from Mizoram), Padmashri Ajoy Kumar Dutta (social worker), Sharadi Saikia (xattriya exponent), Padmashri Dhirendra th Bezboruah (veteran jourlist) along with three entrepreneurs, Rat Deb (Moran), Dipak Borah (Silapathar), Pran Gopal Saha (Agartala).

The felicitation was followed by a programme of dotion to five NGOs mely Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati, Uttar Purvanchal Jajati Seva Samity, Kalyan Ashram Assam, Akshyay Patra Foundation, Ja Kalyan Trust. Altogether Bank doted an amount of Rs 2.08 crore to all these NGOs for procuring materials, from medical equipment to school desks, for their respective work area for the society.

The cultural night ended with fasciting performance by Amika Choudhury, Winner of Zee TV Little Champ and an enthralling performance by Manipuri Raas Leela by a group from Manipur, a press release said.
