SBI officials discuss development issues with BTC deputy chief

KOKRAJHAR, July 20: The officials of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and Gautom Bhattachary, General Mager of the Northeast Circle of the State Bank of India (SBI) held a meeting at the conference hall of the Deputy Chief of BTC, Kampa Borgoyary on Wednesday.

Talking to media persons, Gautom Bhattachary, General Mager of the Northeast Circle of the State Bank of India (SBI) said they discussed with the officials of BTC administration on the development of the region through the bank and maintaining transparencies for the benefit of the common people. He said that 40 branches of the SBI had been providing services to the people in the BTC region.

Bhattachary said that during discussion, the BTC authority sought from the SBI to provide general loans, agriculture loans to small businessmen and farmers for better livelihood of people of the region. He also assured that the SBI would try to extend all possible help for the benefit of the people in the region

Kampa Borgoyary, deputy chief of BTC, said that they discussed with SBI general mager of the north-eastern region on general fincial issues and local development activities in the region. He said they sought extension of loans to small businessmen, beneficiaries, self-help groups and entrepreneurs from the SBI. He said they requested the SBI general mager to open more SBI branches in small towns and bazaar for the interest of the common people, so the people can easily access the facilities of the fincial institution for business purpose. He also said that people had been facing problems due to lack of SBI branches as banks did not want to set up their branches in Kokrajhar due to security reasons earlier.
