SBI opens separate counter for pensioners

TINSUKIA, November 8: Reacting to the news item published in The Sentinel on November 7, 2016  on pensioners’ resentment, the State Bank of India (SBI) Tinsukia branch, which handles several thousand pensioners, including the sick and physically challenged, opened a separate counter with sitting arrangement on the ground floor to facilitate transaction for ‘Life Certificate’.

Appreciating the move by SBI, the aged pensioners waiting at the counter who are uble to climb upstairs, not only heaved a sigh of relief but also expressed satisfactory behaviour of the SBI staff. Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Ranjan Kumar Chakraborty also intervened and took up the matter with SBI officials and leading banks.
