SBI starts mobile vans to dispense cash

Guwahati, Nov 17: To meet cash shortage faced by the people of Guwahati, in particular, and the North-east, in general, following demonetization by the Central government, the SBI has started 37 mobile van services in 16 locations across the North East including Guwahati to dispense cash at different locations.

According to a press release issued by the SBI, since November 10, SBI in North East Circle has done 13.74 lakhs of receipt of transactions through 700 plus branches. Out of total receipt transactions, only 1929 were above Rs 2.50 lakhs amounting to Rs 1657.23 crores, rest all were below Rs 2.50 lakhs. In Assam, there were 7.67 lakh of receipt transactions, out of which only 778 were above Rs 2.50 lakhs amounting to Rs 592.57 crore.

During the same period, i.e Nov 10 to 16, 2291 CSPs across North East has done 1.60 lakh transactions, out of which 1.04 lakh were receipt transactions. In Assam, 1742 CSPs has done 1.20 lakh number of  transactions, out of which 76,250 were receipt transactions. Over 1000 CSPs have dispensed over Rs 50,000.00 and 2500 CSPs were ebled for Cash@POS.

As of today out of 3122 SBI ATMs & CDMS across North East, 2520  are operatiol and 1094 were calibrated to dispense Rs 2000/- denomition notes. In Guwahati, 175 ATMs are calibrated to dispense Rs 2000.00 notes. Arrangements have been made for 12 ATMs at 10 locations in Guwahati to dispense cash @ 24X7. These locations are: APSC Building, Khapara, Dispur Dhaba, Six Mile, Guwahati, Tarun gar, Main Road, Bhangagarh ATM, Adabari Bus stand, Air India Bulding, Ganeshguri, Roopgar, Panduport, SBI Dispur.
