SC directs to hand over Marnya Doye case to CBI

Itagar, Dec 17: Supreme Court Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar gave a new turn to the mysterious death case of Marnya Doye (22), by turning down the bail to accused Sachin Pawar granted by Maharashtra High Court and directing to hand over the case to the CBI. Justice Khehar, scheduled to be sworn as Chief Justice of the Apex court on January 4 next, gave the verdict in response to a petition filed by Mari Doye, Marnya’s sister.

Pawar, owner of Sai City Engineer (SCE), was arrested by Mahad MIDC Police on 08.05.16 in the suspected murder case of his employee Marnya, found dead in nglawadi-based (SCE) in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on April 26, 2016. Police had registered a case u/s 302, 201 and 34 IPC on receipt of an FIR from her elder sister Mari accusing Pawar of brutally murdering her sister. He was arrested after prelimiry investigation and remanded in police custody for six days on being produced in the court, police inspector nd Kishore had informed this scribe over telephone.

However, Raigarh district SSP Suvez Haq, when contacted, had said that considering seriousness of the case, police are on their toes and interrogations are on. The deceased had a ligature mark around her neck and the fil post mortem report from J J Hospital, Mumbai would help the police in the case. As the family in their FIR has suspected murder, the police had to register a case accordingly but the outcome of investigation would help the police in their investigation, he had added. The case had sent a shock wave in Aruchal Pradesh with the civil society led by then governor JP Rajkhowa and chief minister Kalikho Pul had taking up the case with Maharashtra Governor Chenmaneni Vidyasagar Rao and CM Devendra Fadvis and had demanded a CBI probe into the murder case.

Though  Pawar was remanded to 14-day judicial custody but the HC had granted him bail, recalled Kotdwar-based Karma Yoga Asham secretary Rajesh Rajput, who along with Mari were assured of justice to the bereaved family members when they had called the Governor Vidyasagar Rao on May 31 last. The governor had given the same assurance and persol perusal of the case during a meeting with his Aruchal counterpart Rajkhowa on May 5 this year at Mumbai Raj Bhawan when Rajkhowa had handed over a copy of May 5, 2016 edition of an Itagar-based daily newspaper with the photo of late Marnya. Rajput has been pursuing Marnya’s case since she was killed.
