Silchar, Aug 23: “Triple talaq is the Supreme Court’s historical judgement which will remain a milestone for centuries to come. BJP government has always worked for the uplift, emancipation and empowerment of women. Congressmen are of the opinion that why BJP should take the credit after all, it is the Supreme Court that passed the judgement. But had Congress be at the power, they would have tried to mould and reverse the judgement. This is just the beginning of a new era. BJP is capable of bringing many more landmark and revolutiory reforms in the country,” said veteran jourlist M J Akbar, who is also the Minister of State (MoS) for Exterl Affairs and a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, at a blood dotion camp held at BJP office, Itkhola of this town on Wednesday.

The doyen of jourlism, M J Akbar said further said, “Doting blood is like saving a life. If one helps his fellow being, he is helping his country. This has been BJP’s basic principle, motto and objective – to serve people. We have a vision that by 2022 India should be fully developed, advanced and superior. BJP relies on the power of women. The reins of development have been given to the women. Our mission is to move from Sankalpa to Siddhi. Various schemes have been launched by the government to benefit the poor and the privileged. It is high time that we all should work together for the betterment of the country.”

Later, M J Akbar went to the historic 154 years old school, Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School. Addressing the teachers, staffs, guardians, students and media-persons at a small function, he said, “Education is the backbone of development. Imparting proper education will benefit the students who are the future of our country. The last 70 years have seen progress, I do not deny it. But it is called increment progress. The coming of BJP government in power has hastened the rate of development. Our thinking and outlook should be futuristic and visiory. BJP wants to wipe out poverty from this country.”

M J Akbar also said that the meaning and definition of freedom should not be confined to political connotation. Freedom has many facets. “We want freedom from poverty, hunger, illiteracy, unemployment and other problems that our country is facing at this moment. The challenge of development will be given to the womenfolk of our country. The state should become providers of job.” Later, he planted saplings and participated in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by cleaning the school premises along with others.

Among others present at the function included Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, Uday Shankar Goswami, district president, BJP, Nitya Bhushan Dey, frontline BJP leader, MLAs Mihir Kanti Shome, Amarchand Jain, Kishore th, Parvin Sulta Laskar, headmistress of the school and Bibash Dey.
