SC move unexpected: Tuki

ITAGAR, Nov 23: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister bam Tuki has termed the dismissal of the Special Review Petition of the Aruchal Government by Supreme Court on the Chakma Hajong issue as unexpected. Tuki in a statement today said that, “We are not against the grant of Indian citizenship to the Chakma Hajong refugees, but opposed to their permanent settlement in Aruchal Pradesh and the exemption of Inner Line Permit”.   He mentioned that the State government would again take legal recourse in the form of a curative petition before the Apex court on the issue. He mentioned that this has been a long pending issue regarding which many political decisions were taken in the past.  “Also, the collective sentiments of the people of Aruchal Pradesh especially that of the organisations that are agitating for the interests of the State has to be given careful consideration as per the provisions of the law,” he said.  The chief minister stated that the people should not to be carried away by rumours on the issue and appealed for maintaining peace and amity till a fil resolution is arrived at, the statement added.
