SC moved to make officials' kids study in government schools

Gurgaon, August 24: A Gurgaon-based activist on Monday filed a petition in the Supreme Court urging implementation across the country of the Allahabad High Court ruling that made it mandatory for government employees to send their children to government-run primary schools. Right to Information (RTI) activist Sudhir Yadav in his petition urged the apex court to implement throughout the country the Allahabad High Court ruling. The high court on August 18 had asked the Uttar Pradesh government to take appropriate steps to ensure that its guidelines, also involving officials serving in local bodies, were implemented from the next academic session.

The high court bench had also suggested strict pelties for officials failing to follow the rules. In his petition, Yadav said this was a “landmark judgment” which he may never come across again in his life, and if implemented across the tion, “we will see a situation where people will prefer to get their child admitted in government schools”, and which will benefit society as a whole.
