Scarcity of life saving drugs and baby food hits Manipur

FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

IMPHAL, Sept 7: Taking undue advantage of the two tiol highways which have become impassable following rockslides and a damaged bridge, the unscrupulous traders of Manipur has jacked up the prices of all essential commodities.

One kg of potato now costs Rs 28 whereas as the price of egg is Rs 10 per piece. Most of the items including baby food and life saving drugs had vanished from the market.

It may be mentioned that every time the tiol Highways are hit by tural calamity or protest the very moment all petrol pumps use to down their shutters citing excuse that there is no stock. However, they keep on siphoning petrol and diesel to the roadside vendors who use to do a roaring business. The government has been a mute spectator to this kind of underhand play.
