SCCZ gets ‘A’ grade in AC accreditation

From Our Correspondent

Itagar, Dec 4: In yet another laudable achievement, the Saint Claret College at Ziroin Lower Subansiri district of Aruchal Pradesh has been accredited with Grade ‘A’ with a cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.02, by the tiol Assessment and Accreditation Council (AC). This is the first time that an institute of higher education in the state has been accredited with ‘A’ Grade in the very first cycle of quality assessment and accreditation, a communiqué informed here on Sunday.

The SCCZ is the only private college in the state to have completed the process of accreditation. Though the College had received accreditation from AC in May 2015, however, the stakeholders were left dissatisfied with the modus operandi of the visit by the then Peer Team. Being convinced that the college deserved a much more comprehensive and fair assessment as per the AC protocol, SCCZ appealed to AC for a review.

AC admitted the review appeal and ordered a re-visit by a fresh team, which took place on November 10 to 12 last. The latest results, announced by AC on December 2 last, become the official accreditation result of SCCZ, valid up to 2021. Each cycle of accreditation is valid for 5 years, on completion of which, the institute must apply fresh for the next cycle of accreditation.

Currently, Aruchal Pradesh has nine institutes of higher education that have been accredited, of which eight are governmental institutions. SCCZ, however, is the only private college in the list, the communiqué added.
