Scholar Dr Amaresh Dutta felicitated on 97th birth anniversary

Dibrugarh, Oct 28: On the occasion of Emeritus Dr Amaresh Dutta’s 97th  birth anniversary, a function was held at DHSK College under the aegis of Dibrugarh garik Samiti (DNS) on Wednesday. The function was organized as a tribute to the scholar for his contribution to the world of literature.

Later a meeting was held to observe the day, which was attended by scholars, students and admirers who persolly wished him a long life and good health. The meeting was chaired by the former Principal of MDKG College, Prof Sunil Borthakur while former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Dr gen  Saikia, attended the meeting   as a chief guest. In his iugural speech Dr Saikia, while expressing his deepest wishes and gratitude to Dr Dutta, stated that for him, Dr. Amaresh Dutta had always been a fatherly figure and a guru who guided his students with his knowledge and learning. The doyen of academics, scholar of Shakespeare literature, poet and one of the highly adorned teachers of English language, was felicitated by his students with a gamocha,  seleng chadar and citation.   Speaking at the event, Dr. Anda Bormudoi, Prof. Prateek Choudhury and Prof. Pu Mahanta, remembered the Emeritus as a great teacher who was helpful and kindhearted to all his students.  

Meanwhile, Dr. Amaresh Dutta, who spoke on the event, thanked everyone for their wishes and talked at length about his professiol experiences at various universities. Dr. Dutta concluded his inspiratiol speech by quoting a few lines from one of his poems, that a man can live without god but cannot live without people.  

Earlier, Dr. Gulata Borua formerly released a book titled  Monishar Dipti which was brought out in the occasion.

The event was anchored by former HOD of English department, DHSK College , and president of DNM, Munindra Sarmah  offered the vote of thanks at the end of the session.
