School children visits police station

SHILLONG, June 19: The programme titled ‘Visiting my Police Station’ was launched on May 12-as part of ‘Safe-Secure-Shillong’ project is getting a very good response. It needs to be mentioned that an invitation was sent out to different Schools in Shillong, inviting them to visit the Sadar police station. It has been learnt that, till date 20 schools have responded to the invitation and about 900 school children have visited the police station.
ccording to East Khasi Hills SP, Mariahom Kharkrang the invitation is still open at all times to all schools and they can inform the office of the SP by sending an email to sp.ekh-meg@gov.in, mentioning the date and time they intend to visit.
According to Kharkrang the aim of the project is to bring about a public friendly approach by police especially to children and also bring a positive mindset in the minds of the young children towards police.
