KHERONI, March 13: A school employee, identified as Basu Upadhyai (37) of Lamsakhang in West Karbi Anglong, was abducted from his residence under Kheroni police station here yesterday night at around 7-45 pm.
According to sources, the incident occurred while Basu was cooking in his kitchen room.
Five unidentified armed miscreants entered his kitchen room and forced him to come out.
Basu was beaten up with sticks by the miscreants who also fired some bullets in the air.
After being informed about that matter, Kheroni police and a CRPF team rushed to the spot.
The security forces recovered two empty cartridges from the spot.
Officer in charge of Kheroni police station JS Khubung said security forces have been deployed at various vulnerable routes and combing operation has been intensified in the area to rescue the victim.
The kidpping has caused a sensation in the area.
