School nursery programme launched

SHILLONG, May 27: West Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner PS Dkhar launched the School Nursery Plantation Programme on Wednesday at the District Library Auditorium at Mynthong in Jowai. The programme will be carried out by the Social Forestry department in selected schools of the district. Speaking during the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said, “the objective of the programme is to sensitize and create awareness among the students about the need of having a clean green environment,” adding that “having a green environment will not only conserve the ecology but it will also be of benefit to the health of the students.”
