School student allegedly commits suicide, family suspects murder

TANGLA, November 8: Sensation prevailed in the district following the alleged suicide of a Class VIII student of Harisinga Diamond English School on Tuesday.

The mysterious condition in which the body of the student was found in the hostel, with his limbs touching the foreground, has raised allegations from parents that the student was murdered. Reportedly, the deceased Chidon Basumatari (14), son of Bapan Basumatari, an inhabitant of Khoirabari of Udalguri district, was found hanging in mysterious condition in the morning, following which the school authorities informed the parents and Harisinga  Police.

The police recovered the body and sent it for post mortem to Udalguri Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased, alleging it as a pre-planned murder, lodged an FIR at Harisinga PS.

The parents have claimed of sighting injury marks on the body of their son. The deceased had returned to the hostel on November 7 after celebrating his birthday on November 3 at his home in Khoirabari. Family members informed that their son was happy and in good metal health. Family members have also alleged that the boy had been allegedly subjected to threatening by dagger by his hostel mates earlier. The family members have demanded a proper inquiry into the case. The school authorities avoided drawing any conclusion in the case.
