School student found dead in Jorhat

From a Correspondent

JORHAT, March 17: Sensation prevailed in Jorhat following the recovery of the body of a young boy in a pool of blood in the ground floor of Satish Regency housing flats situated at Dohaborachuk area of Jorhat on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Trishav Bordoloi, a 16- year old student of Don Bosco High School, Jorhat and the eldest son of Rajiv Bordoloi and Gayatri Bordoloi, both of whom are professors in Jorhat Central College.

Police is yet to ascertain whether the boy committed suicide or is it a case of an accidental death or a murder though each and every member of the housing society is of the opinion that it is a case of cold blooded murder. However, senior police officials termed it to be a case of an accidental death. Postmortem reports points to head injury being the cause of death. Incidentally, Trishav is a resident of flat no 1 A Fifth floor of Block A and his body was found below the C Block, an area which Trishav never visited.

Talking to The Sentinel, Rajiv Bordoloi, father of the deceased said, “My son was very much into his own life, having a zeal for knowledge, adventure and was a bright student. He loved cycling and playing the guitar. Besides, he was a good swimmer and a good athlete. Recently I brought him a DSLR camera and he was very fond of it, often taking pictures here and there. Just like all other days, Trishav was in his room. My wife who had just reached from Guwahati in the morning was informed by other society members about a body and only when she went to have a look did she find out that it was Trishav. He was not even wearing his glasses nor was the contact lens on. Most importantly he was without even his slippers. I strongly suspect that someone known and close might have called him. The police has seized the phone which was in his pocket and are investigating call details.”

Night watchman of the society, Amrit Hazarika said, “I had locked the main gates at 11 PM on Wednesday night and retired to sleep. I got up at 5 am and opened the locks and thereafter went to the bathroom. It was only when I went near the basin to wash my face did I see the body. I immediately called the society members and the deceased was identified to be Trishav. I had barely known him as I had joined service here only 15 days ago.”

Dr Nitu Gogoi of the JMCH who performed the postmortem had cited severe head injury to be the cause of death and had informed about sending parts of the body for more alysis to the State Forensic Laboratory in Guwahati.

Sources on condition of anonymity have ruled out the possibility of any outsider trespassing and committing a crime of such high ture but have equally not ruled out the possibility of a third party within the society to have had a hand in the gruesome murder. Also, the watchman room is below the A block and that the room is adjacent to the stairs and the lift. People are surprised as to how the watchman did not hear or see anything. Sources said that Trishav never visited the C Block area. Police sources opined that Trishav was online across social sites and websites till 4 AM. And the body being sighted at 5 AM  by the night watchman automatically proves that accidental death, murder or suicide happened in between 4 AM to 5 AM on Thursday.

Newly-appointed Additiol Superintendent of Police (HQ) Kulendra Deka said, “We believe the case to be of an accidental death. Our investigation is on. Murder might not be an immediate possibility as the site where the body was recovered was not interfered with nor was there any evidence to cite of any tampering. In the event of a suicide from jumping from the terrace, there would have been other injuries besides defacement of the face.”

Despite the police claim, people in and around the locality allege the police to have arrived at a quick conclusion. Others believe that pre-engagement with election duty has made the police force less interested in the case. However, the Don Bosco High School has called for closure on Friday as a mark of respect to the departed soul and the AJYCP Jorhat District Committee headed by adviser Putul Dutta and president Ritul Pathak has called for a high-level enquiry for they believe that Trishav had the ability to get rank in the just concluded board exams.
