School students stage blockade, demand repair of road

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Aug 8: The students of Sacred Heart School of Golaghat blocked the Golaghat-Kamargaon Dhodor Ali road on Tuesday morning. More than 200 students took part in the protest avoiding classes in the school and demanded immediate repair of the Golaghat-Kamargaon Dhodor Ali road which is in a pathetic condition. In the protest, the guardians of the students also took part and shouted various slogans against the government for failing to improve the condition of the important roads in the district.

Notably, due to alleged apathy and negligence of the PWD (R), the Golaghat to Kamargaon connecting Dhodar Ali road has been in a deplorable condition for several months. The people who travel through this road suffer a lot. This road has made life miserable and led to many accidents as well.  There are various potholes on the road. Students and patients are the worst sufferers.

Later, senior officials of PWD, Golaghat arrived and assured the protesters to repair the road as soon as possible. The officials said that required estimate and proposal had already sent to the higher authority for approval.
