Schweinsteiger not part of United's Europa League plans

Schweinsteiger, 32, is the only player med in United’s EPL squad who has not been included for European football.

The 2014 World Cup winner is yet to play a single minute of football for the club since Jose Mourinho took over as mager but opted to stay at Old Trafford rather than leave during the transfer window.

“Of course, my absolute dream would be to play for Manchester United and help them reach the goals they have,” Schweinsteiger said earlier this week.

“We’ve got to wait and see how things go in September and October, but there is respect between us and that’s important for me. I’m certainly not going to stop playing football.”

Schweinsteiger missed out because 21 places are available for non-”club trained” players in a Europa League squad. Man United have 22 with the former Germany intertiol.

United are able to me only two “club trained” players — those who have spent three years at the club between the ages of 15 and 21 — in their A squad.

United have been drawn in Group A alongside Fenerbahce, Feyenoord and Zorya Luhansk. They begin their campaign away at Feyenoord on Sept. 15.
