'Science photography can motivate mindset of society'

Dibrugarh, Oct 28: A science communication festival ‘Reverberation- We are science communicators’ was held in Dibrugarh University, organized by  Nezine Media in collaboration with Centre for Studies in Jourlism and Mass Communication, at Indira Miri Auditorium recently with a day-long programme. The Vice-Chancellor of  Dibrugarh University, Prof Alak Kumar Buragohain iugurated the programme. In his iugural speech, Prof. Buragohain highlighted that science photography could motivate the mindset of the society. He cited the example of the first photograph of the earth which was taken from space and he said that a scientist picked up the how, why and what to make a hypothetic observation and through experiments undertaken, facts were fostered into relative reality. Earlier, Prof Satyakam Borthakur, the chairperson of CSJMC, delivered the welcome address. As dignitaries, eminent jourlist and editor of Nezine, Sushanta Talukdar delivered a lecture on science communication in reference to Northeast India.
Renowned landscape and travel photographer and vice-president of the Photography Club of Assam, Arpan Kalita gave lecture on basics of science and travel photography. Rat Bharali Talukdar and Pritam Ranjan Deka also graced the programme. The faculty and more than 100 students participated in the programme.
