Scouts and Guides observe Flag Day

GUWAHATI, Nov 8: The Bharat Scouts and Guides observed November 7 as Flag Day as the organization observed the day with a flurry of programmes.

As a part of the celebrations, the Bharat Scouts and Guides, the Guwahati Chapter met Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit, who is also the president of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Assam, at Raj Bhawan yesterday and apprised him of its different activities aimed at building the character of the young people through inculcating the value of self-discipline, social service and patriotism.

The Governor, while wishing every member of the voluntary organization, called upon the members to render their selfless services to build the character of the youths in society. Referring to the Father of the tion Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy, the Governor also urged the voluntary organization to follow the basic principle of ‘see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’.

It may be mentioned that the Scout Movement was established way back on November 7, 1907, and since then every year November 7 is celebrated as the Flag Day.

State Secretary Bharat Scouts and Guides Kulendra th Das, who was present at the Raj Bhavan as a part of the delegation, reiterated the organization’s commitment to work relentlessly under the guidance of the Governor to help the distress and needy of the society.
