JOYSAGAR, July 17: Altogether 1,500 post cards were posted on Monday by the LP and ME Teachers’ Association, Sivasagar, addressed to the Prime Minister of India. LP and ME Teachers’ Association general secretary Basanta Sonowal said that the State Education Department was conducting an additional scrutiny over the appointment of teachers during the AGP and Congress governments’ tenure.

It was alleged that about 18,000 LP and ME teachers of the State were serving in various government schools with fake and illegal appointment letters. There are also allegations that about 6,000 teachers did not face any interview. They bribed some AGP and Congress leaders and fake appointment letters for them were allegedly prepared by some corrupt officers as well as clerks of the State Elementary Department. Therefore, the State Education Department was conducting an additional review following these allegations and the monthly salary of about 1,500 LP and ME teachers of Sivasagar had been blocked till the scrutiny concludes. Around 1,500 teachers of Sivasagar district have not been getting their salary since about 71 months. On Monday, all the 1,500 teachers sent post cards to the Prime Minister seeking his intervention.
