SDSKMS's 18th annual convention begins

Dibrugarh, February 16:  The 18th annual convention of South Dibrugarh Sanskritik Kendra Mahila Sora (SDSKMS) kicked off on February 14 with the iugural session of the convention starting with lighting of the traditiol lamp and presentation of xarai by Debojani Sonowal at a amghar, at about 8 am.

Later, with Madhumita Sangha, Niharika Choudhury and vice-president Mibala Chaliha as judges, a competition on flower decoration and pitha-po was organized which was then followed by an antarang aalap between the members of the Mahila S’ora.

In the afternoon session, with Mahila S’ora president  Rekha Saikia in the chair, an open meeting and prize distribution ceremony was organized that was iugurated by former judge and founder of the S’ora, Minu Boruah. Later, Kaberi Bora presented a classical song, with Subash Sonowal, as the accompanying instrument artiste.

Well-known actress Jhar Saikia, as an invited guest, while gracing the event, enthralled the audience with her acting acumen and even presented a riveting oration in the convention. This was followed by a poem recitation by Sabitri Boruah. The secretary of SDSKMS, Shiben Bordoloi, attended the meeting and also addressed the gathering.

In the meeting, the gathered audience was gripped by the oratory skills of eminent jourlist Ikbal Ahmed and by the presentation of a one-act play by Soli Sonowal.

Earlier, the president of the Mahila S’ora delivered a short speech and the vote of thanks was delivered by Achutya Bordoloi.

In the evening, a cultural function was organized in memory of Alka Rajkhowa   in which the members of the S’ora  who staged a drama titled Joutuk Bondho Korok  were  applauded for their remarkable performances by the viewers.
