Sec 144 promulgated in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Dec 19: In an effort to maintain peace and tranquility in the district, Additiol District Magistrate Bidit Das has promulgated Section 144 CrPC in the entire district with immediate effect, banning all forms of demonstrations, assembly of five or more people in public places, including rallies, procession, protests and shouting of slogans.

The prohibitory order has also banned erection of swahid bedis at government and non-government areas and collection of dotions to prevent breach of public peace and tranquility.

Meanwhile, another order under section 144 also prohibits the use of certain types of plastic and polythene carry bags with immediate effect. As per the order, all carry bags made of virgin or recycled plastic less than 50 microns in thickness have been banned in the district. The order also prohibits the sale and use of gutkha like Tiranga and Sikhar in the district.
