The high-level team was also accompanied by the top officials of New and Renewable Energy Corporation of India Ltd. which is a Central Government agency. The team took an overall account of the Amguri Solar Project which is proposed to be built in this year’s State Budget with the fincial aid of the Central Government. The Amguri Solar Project is proposed to be built with a aim to avail 67 MW electricity.

In Lalimchapori village of Amguri during the rule of the AGP government led by Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, a thermal project was proposed to be built in 1989 and the foundation stone was also led by the then Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta at Lalim Chapori. Later, the proposed project did not come up due to many political hurdles and also for not having sufficient fund.

Recently the Amguri Project was again proposed to be built and this time the project was aimed to be built with solar energy. The local MLA of Amguri and the general secretary of AGP, Pradip Hazarika has been working hard to ensure that this project sees the light of the day.

The high-level team visited the proposed project site in response to a letter written by MLA Pradip Hazarika earlier and the team reportedly expressed their satisfaction at the plan. Besides, the team agreed to enhance the power of the project from 67 MW to 100 MW during Friday’s visit, said sources.

The New and Renewable energy Corporation of India Limited and Solar Energy Corporation (I) Ltd. officials will submit their inspection report to the Central Government and also to the State Government and the project is expected to kick-off soon, added sources.
