Second Jamboree programme launched

Shillong, April 25: The 2nd Jamboree programme for the school going students of Class IX to XII of West Jaintia Hills district was inaugurated by DM Wallang, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Member Secretary of District Arts & Culture Society, WJH today at the Northeast Adventist College, Khliehtyrshi on the Theme, “Igniting Young Minds”.

Addressing the students, DM Wallang said with the success and good response received from the students from the 1st Jamboree Programme held last year, the District Administration felt it was necessary to once again organized this type of programme, which is a platform for the students to move out of their four walls, a place where young minds come together to share their ideas, giving them the opportunity to participate, interact and collaborate with fellow students.  He encourage the students to actively participate and learn from the programme. He also advised the student to have a vision with a mission, to stay focus and not to indulge in any social vices  and to be perseverance to strike ones goal. 

            Block Development Officer, Thadlaskein C&RD Block, B Blah and Chief Programme Coordinator informed this year the programme is attended by 125 students from 12 schools with ten participants from each school along with one 1 teacher guide. Earlier, in the morning before the formal inauguration the students were allotted houses and ice breaking session. The Students will be performing in groups during these three day programme.

            B Blah briefed the students on the detailed programmes. During these three days the students will be enriched with lectures and interactions from experts in various fields. S Syiem, will be speaking on ‘Youth mental health and wellbeing”, Nathanial Majaw on ‘Views of Information Technology’. There will also be panel discussion on the theme, “Ignited Minds - Don’t Give up, Don’t Ever Give Up”, where a group of renowned persons from the various fields will share their views, opinions and idea. From the field of sports Hame Shaniah Suiam, , from politics A Dkhar, Secretary UDP, from the media David Laitphlang, president Shillong Press Club, from music AT Kharujon, from the police department,  Vivek Syiem, SP (Crime & Investigation) to name a few.  There will also be a trekking programme .
