Second phase of Raijor Podulit Raijor Sarkar gets overwhelming response

DIBRUGARH, April 8: The second phase of the three-day programme Raijor Podulit Raijor Sarkar (People’s government in people’s courtyard) started on April 4 with special emphasis on the theme ‘Social security and women’s empowerment’. It concluded successfully on Tuesday.

People’s participation in the programmes that held were in 7 development blocks covering 93 gaon panchayats was overwhelming. Seven development departments of the government like Food and Civil Supplies, Silk, Handloom and Textiles, Labour and Employment, Panchayat and Rural development, Education and Social Welfare, sensitized the populace about successful implementation of various government programmes and projects which were initiated by the departments. The 31 district-level teams headed each by Additiol Deputy Commissioner, directly interacted with 31 gaon panchayats on various government-sponsored schemes and welfare projects during the three-day programme.  

The highlights of the second phase of RPRS programme, amongst others, were cleanliness drive and plantation of saplings under Mukhyamantir Asomor Nirmal Seuj Abhiyan (MANSA), reading out of the Chief Minister and CM secretariat’s Additiol Chief Secretary’s message, sensitization programmes on government’s schemes, semir, discussion and receiving public complaints. The teams also inspected the health centres and panchayat offices to monitor the progress of various government projects being initiated by the panchayats.

A total 2,553 applications of public complaints were received by the authority on April 4 while 2,580 complaints were received on April 6, besides 1,815 complaints being received in April this year. Out of this, 120 complaints were settled on the spot.

Deputy Commissioner MS Manivann, while attending the programmes, called upon the people of the area to avail the opportunity of welfare projects as offered by the Government of Assam. He emphasized the need to maintain a clean and hygienic environment in the area.
