Second triennial conference of Ellora Bigyan Mancha

DOOMDOOMA, Oct 27: The second triennial conference of Ellora Bigyan Manch (EBM), Doomdooma Branch will be held at Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya on October 29 with a day-long programme. Ellora Bigyan Mancha was formed with a view to fight against superstition and obscurantism prevailing in the society and spreading the scientific temper among the masses to eradicate the obstacles that stood in the way of progress. The conference, besides trying to widen its organizatiol base, will try to exchange ideas with like-minded organizations so that a united platform could be built to fight against those ills. A strong reception committee has been formed with Jhikanda Borgohain as president, Dr Azibur Rahman as working president and Tarini Deka as general secretary. A symposium on ‘Superstition and the present society’ will be held. Prof Chandan Sarmah of the Department of History, Dibrugarh University (DU) will iugurate the symposium while Dr Paramanda Mazumdar and Kamalesh Gupta, the  working president and the secretary respectively of Ellora Bigyan Mancha central committee, will be the chief speakers.
