Section 144 CrPC promulgated

Dibrugarh, July 19: The district administration has promulgated Section 144 under Cr.P.C in the area of 1 No. Burhi Khowang and 1 No. Podumoni - Gaon under Demow Mouza in Dibrugarh district  where a dispute has arisen following the acquisition of 104 bigha and 15 lessa of land by the Union Ministry of  Road Transport and Highway in Demow for construction of four-lane highway road.

 As per the directives issued by the Additiol Magistrate of Dibrugarh District, assembly of more than five persons, taking out of public rally for creating trouble in  the construction work, any type of exhibition, staging of dhar and hunger strike, giving of  slogans, any kind of illegal act, burning of effigies, construction of martyr’s dome, moving around without reason near footpath or road and gathering have been strictly prohibited near NH-37 in Demow where  the four-lane highway construction work is in progress .  Any person found to act in contravention of the said prohibitory order will be punished under Section 188 of  Indian Pel Code. The ban has been issued in view of a section of people posing difficulties in carrying out the construction work  even when adequate compensation was given to the patta holders concerned of the aforesaid area of Khowang Mouza by the district administration after completion of  the land acquisition process in the year 2015.
