Section 144 CrPC promulgated in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, Oct 8: The Additiol District Magistrate promulgated section 144 of CrPC in the entire district on Saturday,  prohibiting assembly of more than five people in one place, carrying of  weapons,  including stick and axe in  public  place, public congregation, procession, organizing of hunger strike or  sit-in-strike, burning of effigies, construction of martyrs’  tomb (swahid bedi)  in government or private land,  training on use of lathi or weapons in public place,  road blockade, collection of dotion and  throwing of  crackers in public places, vehicular traffic and passersby.

Moreover, throwing of harmful chemicals and colours on passersby, women and children, playing of loud music in close proximity to school, colleges, nursing homes, and court premises between 10 pm to 6 am is also prohibited. The order further prohibited commul activities,  slogans against tion and community, casting black glasses in cars, wearing of  olive green uniform of the  defense forces, wearing of full mask helmet, including pillion riding in two wheelers. However, ban on pillion riding is not applicable to doctors, advocates, government officers, school going children, jourlists and persons above 60 years.

The prohibitory order remains in force in the entire district till 60 days. Violation of any clause of the order will be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Pel Code (IPC).
