Section 144 CrPC promulgated in Goalpara

GOALPARA, Jan 17: The Additiol District Magistrate (ADM) of Goalpara, Styajyoti Baruah, has promulgated with immediate effect Section 144 CrPC in the district. Under the provisions of the Act, gathering of five or more than five persons, arranging of meetings and taking out rallies have been prohibited. This order also prohibits carrying of lethal weapons, bombs and other fire arms likely to cause public damage. The DM has also prohibited wearing of camouflaged dresses and forceful collection of money from vehicles and businessmen. This has been done with apprehension of serious breach of public peace and tranquility in regard to the celebration of Republic Day.
