Section 144 CrPC promulgated in Morigaon

MORIGAON, April 21: The Additiol District Magistrate, Morigaon, Pranjit Gogoi, vide an order issued on April 19 last, has promulgated prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC prohibiting overcrowding in small country boats, machine boats as well as their movements during heavy rain or storm in Morigaon district. Moreover, as per the order, no boat will ply without suitable fitness and adequate precautiory measures.

Besides anticipating the possibility of accidents such as boat capsizing etc. particularly in the river Brahmaputra in Morigaon District during this month due to heavy rainfall, this Order has also been imposed in view of possibility of loss of human life owing to raising water level and current in the river.  Further, apprehension has been made as crowding, lack of fitness and movements of boats during rain or storm may cause accidents. This Order has come into force with immediate effect and will continue till further order.
