Section 144 imposed in Chirang district

Bongaigaon, October 27: Section 144 IPC had been imposed in Chirang district. Gagan rzary, District Information and Public Relation Officer of Chirang, said that Chirang district magistrate Binod Kumar Deka promulgated Section 144 IPC in the district, thereby prohibiting all types of meeting, rallies, shouting of slogans, assembly of five or more persons in any public place, pillion riding on two wheelers like scooters, motorcycles, carrying illegal arms, lathis, daos and use of microphones in the outdoor without permission, in view of Diwali celebration.  “However, riders carrying women and children below 13 years, old and infirm persons, executive magistrates, police, army and paramilitary forces, meetings , rallies, dhars, puja and melas accorded prior permission from the administration  are exempted from the purview of this order. This order has come into force from October 26 and will remain in force until further order,” he said.
