Section 144 promulgated in Dibrugarh district

DIBRUGARH, Dec 5: Keeping security of people’s life and property in view, the additiol district magistrate of Dibrugarh, by an order  has promulgated section 144 in the entire district prohibiting assembly of five or more persons in public places, carrying of fire arms and lethal weapons , holding of public convention and meeting, taking out procession, torching of effigies, holding dhar and hunger strike, construction  of swahid bedi on government or non-government land, road blockade throwing of colour on passerby, women or children, any act or speech which may provoke the people and trigger commul and ethnic clashes, raising anti-tiol or  anti-community slogans,  forcible fund collection, using of tinted glasses in the vehicles and pillion riding in two wheeler.

However, the ban on pillion riding is not applicable to school children, women and people engaged in law enforcing agencies and in market place, airports, marriage ceremony, any religious function or festivals. The order is enforced in the entire district from November 30 and will remain applicable for 60 days. Violation of such order in any form by any person will be punishable under section 188 IPC, a government press release said.
