Section 144 promulgated in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, May 8: Apprehending increase chances of erosion and threat to life and properties of the inhabitants who are living near the river bank and its surrounding areas due to uuthorized collection of sand and soil, the District Magistrate  Laya Madduri, by an order issued on May 6, has promulgated section 144  in these areas prohibiting  uuthorized digging  and carrying  of soil and sand  by boats and vehicles  to different places. The order further restricted uuthorized use and transportation of soil and sand by boats or other form of vehicles to different places. Violation of the order by any individual in any form will be dealt with stringent punishment  under section 188 of Indian Pel Code.
