Security beefed up for peaceful celebration of I- Day at Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, August7: Every possible steps have been taken to thwart any evil designs by the divisive elements in the district for celebrate Independence Day peacefully,  this was said by Kokrajhar SP Saymol Prasad Saikia.

Talking to media persons here on Friday, Kokrajhar SP Saikia said despite the boycott to celebrate the Independence Day by the militant outfits the Assam police has geared up to maintain the law and order in the region as the Kokrajhar district also always ready to maintain the security measures for celebrate Independence Day peacefully.

He said that all possible steps have been taken to thwart any evil designs by the divisive elements and Police, Army, CRPF, SSB and other security forces are on high alert to prevent any disturbance during the Independence. The public places, railway tracks were daily checking is underway.

He also said that the search operation against the NDFB (S), KLO and NSLA is full swing in the district as well as Indo- Bhutan Border area.

An important meeting with Village Defense Party (VDP) and security of Kokrajhar was held at SP office premises under the guidance of SP Kokrajhar on Friday for security measures of coming Independent Day celebration in the district. Almost 650 VDP members were took part in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Surjit Singh Panesar, Additiol SP, Kokrajhar said that the NDFB (S) under the leadership of Budha Mushahary alias M Birbai accountant of the outfit along with Sudem Basumatary and Sankang Basumatary has been trying to create panic in the celebration of I-Day in Kokrajhar district.

He said that the security forces have been taking stern action against NDFB (S) after the carge of Adivasis on 23 Dec last year and strict vigil has been maintained in Kokrajhar.
