Security beefed up in railway premises ahead of I-Day

Bongaigaon, August 3: “The railways are on high target ahead of Independence Day. Hence we are arranging for a tight security system by Railway police in association with civil police,” said Bhaskar Jyouti Mahanta, ADGP, Railway Police on Monday in Bongaigaon.

A joint meeting of high officials of Assam Police and Railway Police was held today in Bongaigaon SP office premises where Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, ADGP, Railway Police, LR Bishnoi, IGP, BTAD, P K Dutta, Superintendent of Railway Police, Kumar Sanjit Krish, SP, Bongaigaon, Ranjan Bhuya, SP, Chirang, Syamal Prasad Saikiya, SP, Kokrajhar and many other security officials were present.

Talking to media persons, ADGP Mahanta said that they had got several intelligence reports already. “Hence we are tightening up security, especially in the Railway areas. As you know, since last few years, the Railways had been the most preferred target of terrorists. So to combat against terrorist activities this time, we have arranged for a tight security system. And to make this security system successful, we need the help of the civil police also,” he said.
