Security beefed up over President visit

Itagar, Nov 18: Aruchal Pradesh police has made an elaborate security arrangement in view of President Ram th Kovind’s maiden visit to the State capital on Sunday.
Twelve companies of security forces including Central para military forces and State police have been deployed for full-proof security in the State capital and its adjoing areas, police said.
“We have deployed 12 companies of para military forces including CRPF, ITBP along with State police and strong vigil has been kept on all the check gates,” IGP (Law and Order) bin Payeng said. He said traffic movement has been restricted in certain roads of the State through which the president will move. Moreover, kas and checking have been put up in all the vulnerable areas of the State capital.
“Night patrolling by police has been intensified in the capital,” he said adding, security liaison officer from New Delhi has already arrived in the State capital to monitor the overall security arrangements. The State police has already performed rehearsal today, he added.  
The President, who is on a four-day tour to Northeast, will visit Aruchal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur and attend several programme and meetings.
On Sunday, he will attend a function at Indira Gandhi Park here to mark 40 years of Vivekanda Kendra.  He will also dedicate the new Assembly building of Aruchal Pradesh to the people and address the legislators at a special Assembly session.
On November 20, Kovind will attend the closing ceremony of mami Barak festival at Silchar in Assam.  He will subsequently visit Manipur on November 21 where he will iugurate the North East Development Summit and the annual 10-day Sangai Festival in Imphal.  Before leaving for Delhi, the President will visit the I war memorial at Moirang on November 22 next.
