Security For Polling And Presiding Officials On The Poll Booths

GUWAHATI: The general election in Assam will be held in three phases on April 11, 18, and 23. The Sodou Asam Karmachari Parishad has appealed security provisions for the polling and presiding officers on the poll booths.

During the first phase on April 11, the Lok Sabha polls will be held in five Parliamentary constituencies —Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Tezpur, and Kaliabor. The second phase on April 18 will be held in the five more Parliamentary Constituencies — Karimganj, Silchar, Autonomous District (Diphu), Mangaldoi, and Nagaon; while the third phase on April 23 will be conducted in four other Parliamentary Constituencies — Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, and Gauhati. As per a press release, President Basab Chandra Kalita and Secretary General Fakar Uddin Ahmed of the Parishad stated that along with the basic facilities provided to the polling and presiding officers, tight security should be initiated.
