Security forces apprehend NSCN (K) cadres

Itagar, March 21: The Khonsa and Changlang Battalions of Assam Rifles during separate operations in Tirap and Changlang districts of Aruchal Pradesh on Tuesday apprehended two hardcore NSCN (K) cadres and another over ground worker of the outfit in Tuesday, defence sources said. Based on specific intelligence inputs about presence of the cadres trying to terrorize and carrying out extortion in Chop village of Tirap district, the Khonsa battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended self-styled Private Khajam Pansa of the NSCN (K) with a pistol and live ammunition, Kohima-based Defence Spokesman Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer said.
During spot interrogation the rebel admitted his allegiance to the outfit.
In another operation launched by the Changlang battalion in Tirap Colliery of the district, one illegal Myanmarese tiol identified as Sang Ung Hakum, was apprehended.
The tiol, who hails from Thangthang village in Myanmar, on spot interrogation admitted that he had infiltrated to India in January this year.
Based on inputs about the presence of an over ground worker and having collected large sums of money from the locals, the Lekhapani battalion of the force also carried out an operation in Lalpahar area of Changlang and apprehended one Nisto Sema, a resident of Lalpahar village and more than Rs 5 lakhs recovered.
He was also apprehended earlier in 2005 for aiding the NSCN (K), the spokesman added.
