Security forces b nine militants in State

Guwahati, March 11:  Security forces have bbed nine militants, including two hardcore cadres of the NDFB(S) and four of the KPLT, in separate operation in the State in the last 24 hours.

In the first operation by the Pabari-based army troops of Agia Brigade under the Red Horn Division and Assam Police, two hardcore terrorists of NDFB(S) - mely Bilifang Brahma and Khumpu Brahma - were apprehended from Barshijhar area of Chirang district.

Bilifang Brahma was involved in grede lobbing at the Panbari army camp last year besides several kidpping and extortion activities. Khampu is also involved in kidpping and extortion activities.

Both the militants are also involved in killing of minority community during the last two years and they belong to Pabari section of the Chirang platoon of NDFB(S). One .303 Rifle, one country made rifle and other warlike stores were recovered from them.

In another operation, consequent to relentless pressure, two UALA militants surrendered to the Goalpara based army troops. They include the self styled sergeant major Krenibirth Momin alias Kakkam G Momin and self styled corporal Chenpang N Marak. Both the terrorists joined ANVC breakaway faction in 2012 and subsequently joined UALA in 2013.

Meanwhile,  Chandro Kro alias Arsek, area commander of KPLT of Chinthong area and Bidya Sing Kro alias Laher, a dreaded KPLT cadre, along with two linkmen - mely Prakash Teran and Sarmen Bey -  were today apprehended by a joint team of the Jagiroad based army unit under the Red Horn Division  and  Assam Police from Umlapher  village in Hamren sub division of West Karbi Anglong.

A 9mm pistol along with five live rounds, two hand gredes and incrimitory documents like extortion notes of KPLT and demand money receipts were recovered from the militants.

In yet another operation, acting on a specific intelligence provided by the Eastern Command Intelligence Unit, army troopers and Assam Police apprehended a MULTA cadre – identified as Nur Ali (42) of Chagoliya Part II village in Dhubri district - from his residence. A 9mm pistol, four live rounds and a mobile phone were seized from the individual.
