Security forces step up vigilance, ULFA (I) militant bbed

Dibrugarh, June 22: The security forces have stepped up their vigilance following arrest of ULFA (I) cadres and recovery of huge number of arms and ammunition from their possession in different  parts of the district recently.

As a result, some of the major disasters, what ULFA (I) leadership directed the arrested cadres to operate, have successfully been averted and have saved life and property. In its continued efforts of Army, police and CRPF, a number of hardcore ULFA (I) militants, every altertive day, were bbed and large number of arms, ammunitions and bomb materials like TNT, live ammunition and different brands of arms were recovered.   Cross interrogation of bbed ULFA (I) had revealed that ULFA leadership has been engaging new recruits for fund collection and to create a sense of terror among the people.

In the joint operation launched by Army’s 19 JAT Regiment and Lahoal Police on Tuesday night at Rajgarh No 2 near Romai Ghat on specific input, Sagar Gogoi alias Feroz Asom (22) was arrested  from Lohali Gaon under Tengakhat Police station while he was moving towards msai district of Aruchal Pradesh via Tinsukia in order to reach Arakan camp of proscribed outfit in Myanmar. The police recovered 14 rounds of live ammunition of 7.62 mm AK 47 assault rifle, five 9 mm pistols, 11 rounds 0.22 mm and two fired cases of 0.22 mm.

The arrested militant later during interrogation had revealed that he infiltrated to the district from Dauki village in Meghalaya and was instructed by the commander-in-chief, self-styled Major of ULFA (I), Dristi Rajkhowa to reach Arakan Camp in Myanmar through Aruchal Pradesh. Arrested Gogoi was handed over to Lahoal Police later on June 21.
