DIGBOI, September 16: Keeping in view the intelligence input regarding the threat to the refinery at Digboi, the AOD magement has intensified security to avert any kind of untoward incidents in and around the Refinery located at the heart of the oil city of Digboi involving the lives of thousands of people.

According to senior officials of the AOD magement, the organization has received official intelligence input from the Home Ministry regarding threat to the Refinery during events of social, political, religious or cultural significance. Highly placed AOD sources categorically said that the magement was in no way going to compromise with the lives of the people of Digboi and as such security had been beefed.

When asked about the measures adopted to combat the threat by anti-social elements at any time, the sources said that parking of tankers and other vehicles near the entry- exit points of the Refinery had been streamlined, continuous armed patrolling around the Refinery had been ensured, any kind of mass gathering in and around the Refinery had been prohibited, any event, be it sports, social, religious, political or cultural in ture, would not be allowed to be organized in the Refinery playground which shares a common wall within a range of just 100 meters or so, uninterrupted CCTV surveillance had been ensured and continuous monitoring of human mobilization in and around the industry was being carried out without being lenient to anyone including the officials, employees and visitors cannot enter the Refinery without valid documents and identity, beside compulsory physical verification of the employees or non-employees through detectors and other computerized devises.

Meanwhile, organizations like Ramlila Sanchalika Samity and others have expressed resentment at not getting permission from the AOD magement for organizing the Ramlila this year in the month of October. When asked about the feasibility of organizing the Ramlila in the wake of possible threat to the Refinery, a AOD official said that except the Refinery field, the magement was willing to assist the Samity with other three playgrounds of the AOD, besides making other necessary provisions for the smooth conduct of the programme.
