Security intensified in Tripura over infiltration of Islamic militants

From A Correspondent
Agartala, April 1: Special security arrangement has been made along Indo–Bagla border of Somura sub–division in Western Tripura following reported infiltration of a group of Islamic militants from across the border. The Sipahijala district police launched a massive search operation while the Border Security Force personnel intensified patrolling along the border but yet to find any of them. The infiltration was first reported by driver of a Cruzer jeep Maman Mia. While going to Kalamchaura a heavily armed group 7/8 persons wearing lunge and shirt tried to stop him near a sharp curb at Anda gar but he speeded away.
The sub–divisiol police officer Babul Das said special search operation was undertaken after his statement corroborated with that of some of the villagers who suspected them to be dacoits.   The BSF also was informed immediately and they have intensified patrolling along the border. Police searched certain areas in the Somura town with an apprehension that they might have fanned out in the nearby localities. The suspect that the group of 7/8 people might be Islamic militants catapulted as they were carrying some heavy arms as stated by Maman Mia and other villagers. Police said they have taken up the matter seriously as there are such possibilities as the Bangladesh security forces has recently launched a widespread operation against insurgents in their country.  ‘There is every possibility that the militants may sneak into the Indian soil to avoid onslaught of the Bangladeshi security forces’, SDPO told the reporters.
