Security measures beefed up in Dhubri

DHUBRI, July 15:  Security measures have been beefed up in Dhubri district of Assam along Indo-Bangla border following attacks on Hindi-speaking people in Tinsukia district by suspected ULFA (I) militants on Tuesday night.   

Suspected members of the ULFA (I) killed a man and his daughter along with injuring three others in an attack specifically targeting Hindi-speaking people in Tinsukia district on Tuesday.  Motorcycle-borne militants fired indiscrimitely at a family in Filobari- Bijuliban area under Pengery police station on Tuesday evening. A man med ndlal Shah and his daughter Kajal Shah were killed and three others of their family seriously injured. Apart from intensifying patrols along the border police personnel are checking all vehicles along highway 31, Dhubri SP Mridulanda Sarma said.
