Security review meeting on Williamnagar poll

Shillong, April 24: An election review meeting for the Williamnagar Assembly seat, which goes to polls on April 27, was held on Tuesday. The meeting, which was chaired by IGP of CRPF Prakash D, was also attended by DIG, CRPF, Guwahati Range, JPK Ray, Meghalaya police’s DIG Western O Passi, East Garo Hill deputy commissioner Ram Kumar, police observer Anis Ahman Ansari and District Superintendent of Police R Momin. During the meeting, the security network for conducting a peaceful poll was discussed in order to instill confidence in the minds of the voters. The IGP of CRPF insisted on the establishment of seamless communication network.  The deployment of forces well ahead of the poll day was discussed and all were advised to adopt a voter-friendly approach. Besides, a control room has been established in the district headquarter of Williamnagar for effective communications. Prakash D also drew attention towards the medical and emergency facilities during the poll.
