Seized drug items destroyed in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, May 16: The Supreme Court and Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court, Kokrajhar has ordered to destroy all seized (various types) drugs and as per that directive, more than 40 quintal of tobacco, cigarette, 800 kg ganja, 310 gram brown sugar, 1,400 bottles Phensedyle and 465 kg tablets were destroyed on Tuesday near Fakiragram Police Station in Kokrajhar district.

Talking to media persons on Tuesday, Rajen Singh, the Superintendant of Police, Kokrajhar, said that as per the Supreme Court and the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court’s order as well as the Drugs Disposal Committee, Kokrajhar, they jointly destroyed more than 40 quintals of tobacco, cigarette, 800 kg ganja, 310 gram brown sugar, 1,400 bottles Phensedyle, 465 kg tablets and seized drugs items from various locations near Fakiragram Police Station in the district.

Singh also said that today they destroyed drugs seized from various locations in the district since the last 15 years. He further said they had been taking strict action against drugs smugglers and that was why the smuggling of drugs and other rcotics had reduced significantly.
